Prime Minister Gaston Browne has criticised two United Progressive Party (UPP) candidates, arguing that both lack visibility and grassroots presence in their respective constituencies.

In a video circulating online, Browne said Malaka Parker remains largely unknown in Rural North, claiming she has not launched an active campaign or established a physical presence in the area.

“Malika Parker, for example, nobody in rural North knows her,” Browne said, adding that she “has not started a campaign” and has “no physical presence in rural North.”

He suggested that many constituents would be unable to identify her if asked.

Browne also took aim at Ashworth Azille, the UPP candidate for Rural East, saying he too lacks visibility and has struggled to connect with voters.

According to Browne, Azille has “no presence—neither physical nor otherwise,” and efforts to canvass communities were met with resistance from residents who said they did not recognise him.

The prime minister said the reaction appeared to have discouraged Azille, adding that he has not been seen since and is “not ready for prime time.”

While distancing himself from disparaging remarks reportedly made by some residents, Browne said the encounters reflect what he described as a broader disconnect between the opposition candidates and voters.
