LETTER: Election Every 2 Years, Please

    Dear Editor,

This is a plea to the next Parliament to institute the long promised constitutional reform so that elections can be held every 2 years.

This is very important as it seems that people of this fair land only get basic services prior to a By-Election or a General Election. This seems to be the only plan that both parties have,

By-election in St. Phillips and suddenly the Clinic opens and they get a MBS Pharmacy; water that Willikies had not seen in weeks, suddenly started to flow and roads get fixed in a frenzy.

Now elections later this month and : 5% increase for 15,000 civil servant voters even though 10,000 of them do no work. 5% increase in pensions; ABST reductions; government absorbing the fuel increase.

After years of absolute neglect and indifference, the All Saints road rehabilitation, which was promised to start last December, suddenly started this week to be done by the useless Public Works.

And this is another good reason for the 2 year elections cycle, as All Saints road will have to be rebuilt again in 2 years. We all know that Public Works does not have a clue how to build anything much less a major road.

A monumental waste of taxpayers money to undertake this election road knowing fully well that it will not last past the next rainy season.

    I am fed-up and frustrated.
