The U.S. Embassy Bridgetown says a dredging barge from Louisiana-based Weeks Marine has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda to support critical infrastructure works tied to the Crabbs Peninsula energy project.

In a social media post on Thursday, the embassy described the arrival as “exciting progress” for Antigua and Barbuda, saying the vessel would assist dredging operations connected to the joint power plant venture involving U.S.-based Eagle LNG and the Antigua Power Company.

According to the embassy, Senior Advisor Vicki Ting joined Antigua’s Blue Ocean team to receive the barge at the port.

The embassy said the dredging work forms part of broader infrastructure development efforts and would help advance “shared infrastructure development goals” between the United States and Antigua and Barbuda.

Officials also said the project is expected to strengthen commercial ties between the two countries while contributing to energy resilience efforts in the Caribbean.

The Crabbs Peninsula project has been positioned as a major component of Antigua and Barbuda’s long-term energy and infrastructure development plans.
