    Pringle and Walker to miss first sitting of the House of Representatives – Antigua News Room

    MP Pringle and MP Walker Apologize for Absence from Lower House and Senator Parker’s Investiture

    The Hon. Jamale Pringle, Leader of the Opposition, and Barbuda MP Trevor Walker are unavoidably off island at this time and, therefore, will miss the first sitting of the House of Representatives (following the General Election) tomorrow, May 18, 2026.

    MP Pringle, the Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), traveled last week to the United States, accompanying his minor daughter for a medical procedure, while MP Walker, Leader of the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM), is also attending family matters.

    Accordingly, they will each take their Oath of Allegiance at the next ordinary sitting of the Lower House.

    The two Members of the Opposition Bench have duly informed the Clerk to Parliament of their absence and take this opportunity to advise and apologize to their colleagues, supporters, and the public.

    Meanwhile, Ms. Malaka Parker will receive her instruments of appointment to the Upper House at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Government House. The Political Leaders also regret their absence from that ceremony and convey to her their congratulations and best wishes for a productive and successful tenure on the Senate’s Opposition Bench.

    The United Progressive Party congratulates MP Pringle and MP Walker on their reelection to Parliament and Ms. Parker on her ascension to the Senate – and wish them well in their future representation in the Houses of Parliament.
