Opposition Senator Malaka Parker is mourning the death of her father, Vincent “VP” Parker, whom she remembered as a man of courage, discipline, resilience and strong character.

In a tribute posted to social media, Parker described her father as “the strongest man I know,” saying that while he lacked nothing in physical strength, it was the strength of his character and convictions that left the greatest impression on her.

“He lived with courage and served with conviction,” Parker wrote.

Her tribute also highlighted a previous reflection on Vincent Parker’s contribution to the Gray’s Green community. He was remembered as a respected teacher who touched the lives of many people across Antigua and was deeply passionate about Gray’s Green.

Member of Parliament for St. John’s Rural West Michael Joseph also extended condolences to Senator Parker and her family.

“I extend deepest condolences on behalf of the St. John’s Rural West Constituency to Senator Malaka Parker and the entire family of Vincent Parker,” Joseph said.

Joseph described Parker as “a man of great determination, strength and resilience” and “a true stalwart of our community.”

“May his memories live forever in the hearts and minds of those his life has touched,” Joseph added.

Vincent Parker’s death has prompted expressions of sympathy and reflections on his contribution as an educator and community figure.
