Marco Rubio, Secretary of State SAID:

On behalf of the United States of America, I extend warm congratulations to the people and government of Antigua and Barbuda on the 45th anniversary of your independence.

The United States and Antigua and Barbuda share a longstanding friendship grounded in our common democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, and commitment to a safe, secure, and prosperous Caribbean.

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1981, our two countries have worked together on issues ranging from regional security and law enforcement to economic development, and disaster preparedness.

We value Antigua and Barbuda’s partnership in advancing security and stability throughout the Eastern Caribbean and look forward to continuing our close cooperation on issues of mutual importance.

As you mark this milestone, I wish you all a happy 45th Independence Day.
