Antigua and Barbuda remains one of the safest countries in the region, but the government is monitoring a rise in drug-related gun crime, Tourism Minister Henry Charles Fernandez has said.
In a recent interview with ABS, he said most incidents were drug-related and praised recent interventions, including a gun amnesty led by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Police.
“One crime is one too many… but we’re still the lowest in terms of crime within the region,” Fernandez stated.
He also highlighted the government’s investment in a modern patrol vessel to improve drug interdiction.
