ANTIGUA OBSERVER- A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Damian Crump who failed to show up for his court case earlier this week before acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason.

Crump was charged by the police last year in relation to gun-related matters; however, during his first court appearance he was remanded to prison as a magistrate has no jurisdiction to grant bail for offences of this nature.

He subsequently made an application in the High Court and was granted bail by a judge.

However, when his matter was called this week, he had failed to show up for his hearing.

Magistrate Wason expressed concern over Crump’s violation of his bail conditions, noting that this is not the first instance of his absence from court since being granted bail.

In relation to this case, he faces charges for shooting with intent, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and malicious damage.

These charges stem from an incident on September 6, 2024, in Yorks, where Crump allegedly fired shots at a taxi driver and caused damage to his vehicle.

The matter has now been adjourned until November 19.
