Jennings United moved into the number one spot in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) First Division competition with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Lion Hill FC over the weekend, taking their tally of points to 37, two points ahead of second placed Ottos Rangers who were held to a 1-1 draw by Urlings FC late last week.

Jennings had goals from Daryl Massicot in the 26th, Kemon Samuel in the 77th and Jean-Pierre Williams in the 79th to secure their 11th win in 15 matches with three matches left in the competition.

Jaydiel Francis scored the lone goal for Lion Hill when he struck in the 41st minute as they remain on 11 points and in the four team automatic relegation zone.

Also on the weekend, Freeman’s Village Scorpions edged FC Master Ballers one-nil when they met at Freeman’s Village. Former national player, Roy Gregory, scored the only goal of the contest, hitting the back of the net in minute 87 after striker Darius Hector missed on opportunity to put the home team ahead from the penalty spot in minute 38.

Scorpions move to 32 points and third on the standings while Masters Ballers remain on 14 points after 15 outings and ninth on the standings.

Meanwhile, SAP enjoyed a 3-1 victory over neighbours Bolans FC in the other match contest Friday.

The former top flight champions had a double-strike from Tyrique Tonge who netted in the 47th and 49th minutes while veteran and former national striker, Peter Byers, had opened the scoring in the 10th minute. SAP moves to 30 points from 14 matches and fourth on the standings while Bolans remains on 16 points.

The two top teams will gain automatic promotion to the Premier Division while four teams will be relegated to the Second Division.
