The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has launched a national water conservation campaign, “Water Works Wonders! Every Drop Counts! Preserve It!” aimed at raising awareness and encouraging action on water use in Antigua and Barbuda.

With the country facing ongoing water scarcity, the campaign seeks to educate the public while complementing APUA’s efforts to expand its water production and distribution network.

The campaign, which will run across television, radio, social media, and print, features two animated characters—Piper, a carefree teenager, and his sensible sister Dewey Waterson.

Together, they deliver important water-saving messages through humour and relatable storytelling, aiming to resonate with audiences of all ages.

APUA CEO, John Bradshaw, acknowledged the public’s frustrations with water supply reliability, but assured that APUA is working to improve services with millions invested in expanding the reverse osmosis network and upgrading infrastructure.

“We remain committed, but lasting success depends on a collective effort,” Bradshaw said, urging residents to take personal responsibility for water conservation.

Key campaign features include a signature animated video, a catchy jingle, water-saving tips on social media, and staff-led video segments on personal conservation habits.

“Water works wonders but only if we protect it,” Bradshaw concluded, urging the public to preserve water, “one drop at a time.”
