St. John’s is set to undergo significant transformation, with the government addressing multiple urban issues simultaneously. During a recent interview with ABS, Rawdon Turner, the Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, shared plans to tackle street vending, waste management, and derelict buildings as part of a comprehensive urban overhaul.

Turner’s strategy includes creating designated areas for street vendors, reducing sidewalk congestion and improving access for pedestrians. He also highlighted the importance of better waste management, with stricter enforcement on business waste disposal times.

Additionally, Turner revealed plans to repurpose vacant and neglected plots into green spaces, offering residents recreational areas and contributing to the beautification of the urban landscape.

“This transformation will make St. John’s not only more organised but more pleasant for all to enjoy,” Turner said during the interview.
