Two senior Air Traffic Services professionals in Antigua and Barbuda have successfully completed an International Civil Aviation Organization-certified Training Developers Course, strengthening the country’s capacity to train aviation personnel and maintain international standards.

Cecilia Irish and Wesley Joseph were congratulated by Eugene Silcott, who described completion of the course as an important achievement for both officers and the Air Traffic Services Unit.

Silcott said the qualification also fulfills an additional regulatory requirement and enhances the unit’s ability to operate as a modern, professional and internationally compliant Air Traffic Services organization.

He said the knowledge and skills gained by Irish and Joseph are expected to contribute to the continued development of staff and strengthen training programs within the unit.

The additional expertise is also expected to support the safe and efficient delivery of air navigation services in Antigua and Barbuda.

Silcott thanked the government of Antigua and Barbuda for its continued investment in Air Traffic Services, saying such support is critical to building capacity, maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring the country’s aviation system continues to meet international standards.

He acknowledged that further work remains but expressed confidence that continued government support and the commitment of staff would help the Air Traffic Services Unit make further progress.

“Congratulations once again to Mrs. Irish and Mr. Joseph on this well-deserved achievement,” Silcott said, while also thanking the government for its support of aviation development in Antigua and Barbuda.
