Dear PM,

It is patently obvious that the only time things get done in this country is when you take the bull by the horns. Your Cabinet is made up primarily of indifferent, incompetent individuals. I will not deal with the problem areas of APUA, SLBMC (though I would like you to surprise visit the hospital late at night) or the inept CID that can neither investigate or prosecute.

I want to deal primarily with the Traffic situation. Can you as Prime Minister advise this country why we do not have a functioning Traffic Department? Traffic Police are only ever seen at accidents. Other than that they are invisible.

It is you and your government that allowed 55,000 vehicles to be on our roads with no forward planning. Having made this blunder, you must now mitigate.

This morning the traffic lights at 2 major junctions – Old Parham Road and Simon Boulevard and Factory and American Roads, were not working. Not a Police in sight. Traffic gridlock, with some impatient drivers doing some crazy and dangerous maneuvers.

Last Saturday, the penultimate Saturday before schools open, it was mayhem in St. John’s. Cars were parked 3 abreast on all the streets. On Newgate Street, obliquely across from the Police Station, a major traffic jam outside Shouls. Police remained asleep at the Station as no traffic moved and drivers got angrier and angrier.

Friars Hill Road where the Happy Kids Uniform store is now located was massive traffic jams and confusion.

Next weekend will be worse. But I suppose no one in authority cares.

The buck stops with you PM. Let’s see some real action.
