Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has secured a second consecutive term in office after his National Democratic Congress (NDC) won a landslide victory in Grenada’s general election on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Provisional results indicate that the NDC captured 14 of the 15 seats in the House of Representatives, leaving the opposition New National Party (NNP), led by Emmalin Pierre, with just one seat.
The result represents a significant expansion of Mitchell’s parliamentary majority, up from the nine seats his party secured in the 2022 general election.
The NNP reportedly retained the St. George North West constituency, preventing a complete sweep by the governing party.
The victory gives Mitchell a renewed mandate to lead the Caribbean nation for another five years, strengthening his political position as his administration enters its second term.
Mitchell, who first became prime minister in June 2022 after defeating the NNP administration led by former Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, campaigned on modernizing Grenada’s economy, improving health care and reducing youth unemployment.
The election also tested the leadership of NNP leader Emmalin Pierre, who succeeded Keith Mitchell as party leader in 2024.
Among the reported constituency results, Prime Minister Mitchell led comfortably in St. David, receiving 2,130 votes against 903 for his NNP opponent.
The NDC also recorded strong leads in St. George North East, St. George South East and Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The closest reported contest was in St. Andrew South East, where the NDC held a narrow 32-vote lead, according to provisional figures.
The results are based on reported tallies, with counting still underway and final official declarations pending.
