Some minor damage has been reported following yesterday’s winds and rains associated with the remnants of Dolly.

There were a few downed electrical lines and trees which resulted in some roads being blocked and minor vehicular damage particularly in New Winthropes and Barnes Hill. No reports of flooding were received.

According to information from the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service, up to 2.5 inches of rain fell between Saturday and Sunday. There is a 30 percent chance of rain this evening and the possibility of more showers later this week.

Residents living in areas that are known to flood or can flood easily are encouraged to monitor these locations closely.

The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is reminding residents that we are still in the hurricane season and continue to be in a state of readiness. Individuals should have emergency supplies on hand which include canned and other non-perishable foods, water for drinking and other purposes, radio, flashlight, lamp and other essential items. Ensure that your home is safe, reinforce windows and doors.

Residents should stay tuned to the local media for the latest updates on the weather, know the location of the nearest shelter and look out for vulnerable family members such as those who are physically and mentally challenged and the elderly.

The Atlantic hurricane season ends on November 30.
