Scores of Public Works employees marched from the department’s St John’s headquarters to the Office of the Prime Minister on Queen Elizabeth Highway on Monday, renewing their demand for outstanding payments.

The workers say they are owed thousands of dollars in unpaid remuneration and have been pressing authorities for weeks to resolve the issue.

Their latest protest follows previous action, including the use of heavy equipment and vehicles to block roads in an effort to get the government’s attention.

The workers met Prime Minister Gaston Browne on 28 July, when he reportedly assured them that efforts would be made to settle the outstanding payments within a week.

More than a month later, the workers say they are still waiting for the money to be paid.
