A community fair aimed at promoting mental health awareness, stress management and positive alternatives to youth violence will take place Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Youth Enlightenment Academy, at the former BBC Relay Station in Lightfoot.

Da Stress Less Fair will run from noon to 7 p.m. under the theme “Stress Less. Thrive More.” Antigua Digest is presenting the event through The Stress Less Equation Campaign, in collaboration with Uprising Boxing Promotions.

Organizers say the fair will combine education and entertainment, bringing together physical activity, nature, creativity and community interaction to encourage healthier ways of handling everyday pressures.

A featured attraction will be the Stress Less Boxing Ring, where participants, particularly young people, can take part in supervised matches using oversized gloves and pillows. Organizers intend the activity to demonstrate constructive outlets for energy, frustration and competition.

Other attractions will include games, prizes, giveaways, plants, food and drinks, merchandise and activities encouraging community participation.

The event will also highlight eco-therapy, with organizers promoting time outdoors and interaction with nature as opportunities to slow down and reconnect.

Antigua Digest founder Ancier White said in the event announcement that the fair is intended to launch an ongoing effort rather than serve as a one-day initiative. The campaign’s longer-term plans include workshops, educational activities, youth engagement and conversations about mental health and stress management.

Organizers hope to develop partnerships with the Youth Intervention Department, Gender Affairs Division, schools, businesses, mental health professionals, sporting bodies and community groups.

The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation among organizations working to support healthier, safer and more resilient communities across Antigua and Barbuda.
